Netflix's original television series, 'The Witcher,' has recast the role of Eskel with actor Basil Eidenbenz. Netflix announced that Eidenbenz would be taking the role portrayed by Thue Ersted Rasmussen in the upcoming season of the television series.
Rasmussen headed towards the Season 2 of The Witcher and also filmed scenes in February and March 2020, before the production halted due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
As per Netflix, Rasmussen was one of seven new cast members of the forthcoming season of the television series, who had to leave the show 'due to the rescheduling because of COVID-19.' He mentioned the decision of his exit from the show 'heartbreaking' and added, 'but I mostly feel happy and grateful for the days I got to spend on the set earlier this year' on his Instagram account.
With this, the rumors of Eidenbenz being on the cast of the second season of The Witcher came true. He was one of several names swirled as the replacement of Thue Ersted Rasmussen. Similarly, the production team mentioned that Eidenbenz has already been on the set filming scenes for the second season.
The Witcher is produced by Netflix, which is based on the novel of Polish writer, Andrej Sapkowski. Similarly, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is the executive producer and showrunner. Artists like Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, Joey Batey as Jaskier, and many other stars in the show.

Basil Eidenbenz is a Swiss actor who will be portraying the role of Eskel in the second season of the Netflix series, The Witcher. Born in 1993 in Zurich, Switzerland, Eidenbenz celebrates his birthday on 9 January every year. Concerning his physique, he stands at the height of 6 feet and 1 inch tall and weighs 12 stone 2lb (77kg) in weight.
Initially, he started as a singer. He even took singing lessons at the Zurich Music Conservatory. But he shifted his career choice to acting and later settled for training at the European Actor School.
He started his acting career with a German comedy movie entitled 'Let's Get A Divorce' in 2009. He was one of the leading actors in Swiss youth sitcom 'Best Friends.' Later, he moved to London and graduated with an acting degree from Giles Foreman Centre for Acting in 2013 and started his professional acting career.
