Deepika Padukone to start shooting for The Intern remake in January 2024
Deepika Padukone made an official announcement in 2021 about a Hindi remake of the popular Hollywood film The Intern starring Rishi Kapoor. Following the unfortunate passing of the veteran actor, it was disclosed that Amitabh Bachchan has been cast in the movie. Nevertheless, no additional information has been provided since then.The original film The Intern featured Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro in lead roles. Despite rumours that the Indian version has been cancelled, it has recently come to light that Deepika is currently planning the movie's schedule.
According to a report by a leading news portal, Deepika Padukone's second production venture, The Intern, will feature her as both a producer and an actor. However, the movie has experienced delays due to unforeseen circumstances. This comes after her previous production, Chhapaak.
Furthermore, the upcoming movie is scheduled to commence filming in the first quarter of 2024, following the release of Fighter, which stars Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor alongside Deepika. The report stated that if everything goes according to plans, filming for the movie will begin in January or February of next year. Although Deepika will participate in the first shooting schedule, it is uncertain when Big B will begin filming.
Based on the initial glimpse of the first look poster, which was revealed in 2021, the remake of The Intern will be a joint production involving Sunil Kheterpal, Warner Brothers India, Ka Productions, and Azure Entertainment. The screenplay for the movie has been adapted by Akshat Ghildail. Originally, the film was scheduled to be released in the summer of 2022.
Meanwhile, Deepika Padukone will next be seen in Siddharth Anand's aerial action film Fighter alongside Hrithik Roshan, Anil Kapoor and Karan Singh Grover. It is scheduled to release on January 25, 2024.
