Barbara Walters was an American television personality and broadcast journalist who began her career on “The Today Show” in the 1960s as a writer and segment producer of women’s interest stories.

Walters received more airtime as a result of viewers’ interest in her show. In 1974, she became the first woman to be a co-host of an American news program.

Barbara Walters was well-known for her ability to conduct interviews and her popularity among viewers. From Richard Nixon to Barack Obama, she conducted interviews with first ladies and presidents of the United States. She also conducted interviews with Joe Biden and Donald Trump when they were not yet presidents.

Barbara Walters was given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2007 and was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame in 1989. In addition, in 2000, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented her with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

From 1951 until her retirement in 2015, Barbara Walters was a journalist. She passed away on December 30, 2022, at the age of 93, at her home in Manhattan.
